Capital Fundraising
All capital fundraising campaigns need a
well laid out plan that clearly states the goals and objectives
of the campaign and details how all points are going to be met.
Because of the enormity of, and huge amounts of money that
capital fundraising campaigns seek to raise, it is extremely
important that a plan is created and used.
A capital fundraising plan seeks to provide
everyone involved with a system of checks and balances for the
entire process of the campaign. It also serves as an agenda and
a source of organization for a process that can become very
disorganized and confusing. If you will be creating your own
plan, there are somethings that you need to consider and
include so that your capital fundraising campaign is a
success.
The first thing you want to get set up in
your plan is organization, which will help set the tone for the
plan and the campaign itself. Clearly state the reason for the
capital fundraising campaign and list all the objectives of the
project. This part of the plan will give every member of the
board, and members of the organization who might not be
directly involved, an idea of what needs to be done and how it
is going to be done.
The next part of organizing a campaign plan
is to make sure that all the goals and objectives are feasible.
You do not want to have a campaign plan that is full of holes
and dream projects, instead keep your plan on the conservative
side. The entire fundraising plan needs to be realistic,
otherwise it is going to be hard to get members to become
involved and stay dedicated to the project. Make sure your plan
includes the role that you expect everyone involved in the
capital fundraising campaign to take.
To further include the community and get a
better idea of where your members stand on the capital campaign
fundraiser and your overall project, try surveying your
members. Not only will this give you an idea of what they think
of the project and your goals, but it will give you some input
on just how much support you can expect from those members who
will asked to be a part of the fundraising.
The last part of your plan can include a call for volunteers
and help, which is one of the most important parts of the
fundraising itself. This part will outline just how much of the
project will rely on the community and members and what they
can help with. Without volunteers and manpower your campaign
will not be able to move forward, so make sure you designate a
good amount of you proposal to outlining exactly what you need
and expect from volunteers.
As long as you remember these key things
when creating your fundraising plan you will be on the right
course. Stick to the plan and your capital fundraiser will be a
success.
