College Fundraising Ideas

College fundraisers are held by college clubs, sororities and dorms every school year to raise money for club activities.

Most of the time college clubs do not have any money but the money that they get from fundraisers to work with, so the goal is to raise as much as they can in as few events as possible.

Dance marathon
Dance marathons are a popular college fundraising event. College students love having a good time, and a night of dancing is the perfect way to give them that while raising money at the same time. Tag dancers or dance pairs and sell tickets to everyone that goes. Ask local businesses for some donations that can be given to the top three standing at the end of the night.

Powder Puff tournament
Powder Puff tournaments make a great fundraiser for sororities, dorms, and campus clubs. With a powder puff competition you have the potential to raise lots of money for your fundraiser as well as pull several members of the campus together for fun competition. Charge each team an entry fee and then sell additional tickets to the game. You can increase your fundraising dollars by having a food and beverage booth and holding a raffle.

Affinity credit cards
Credit card companies love college students, so it only makes sense that they target college clubs as a way to open new accounts and help clubs fundraise at the same time. Most credit card companies will offer clubs a one time fee for every new credit card account that a group opens. Each member will be set up with a packet of information and a credit card coach will be sent to explain how to pitch and get all the information you need to open the card.

Battle of the Bands
A battle of the bands is a great way to raise money and give some small bands exposure on campus. College bands are a great source to tap for support and fundraising effort. To raise money each band is charged an entrance fee; you can sell tickets at the door, and have a food and beverage stand. To keep costs at a minimum, hold the event on campus where the space is available.

Discount cards
Contact the local restaurants about creating a discount card that you can then sell for a profit. Discount cards are a great option for money tight students because they can get something they already buy for cheap. Your group buys the cards for the low price and then sells them for a profit.

Paid surveys
Several survey companies need college students to fill surveys out for them in order to know how to market their products. Contact a survey company that will pay your group to conduct surveys among college students, or let your group members take surveys for them. You can raise money per survey completed.
