Elementary School Fundraising
Fundraising for an elementary school takes
on a while different purpose than your regular run of the mill
fundraisers.
Elementary school fundraisers are done to support
school and the children that they work to educate, ultimately
benefitting our children. Sadly, most schools do not receive
the budget that is necessary to provide for all the
extracurricular items that are desirable by teachers and
staff.
If you will be organizing an elementary
school fundraiser in the near future to make sure that students
and the teachers that educate them do not have to go without,
there are a few things that you need to take into consideration
before you begin. To start, any fundraiser is going to require,
and deserves, a certain level of planning and organization.
Without decent planning your fundraiser will get off to a rocky
start, and there is the possibility that it will not be
successful.
To avoid that, start planning early and
include as many people as possible throughout the planning
stages and decision making. Designate project leaders and seek
volunteer assistants to help make sure that everything that
needs to get done is looked after. Your greatest source of
volunteers for elementary school fundraisers will be the
parent’s of the children. Make sure you have as many of them on
board as possible, and express the need for this fundraiser to
them.
In addition to the parents, you have several
students that should also be included in your fundraiser. After
all, they are the reason for any events that are being planned
and they are your spokespersons to the community— so use them.
Because you will want to include the students in any fundraiser
projects, remember to keep the fundraiser simple and relevant.
Utilize the teachers and other staff in preparing the students
for the fundraisers that are about to take place.
A great way to really get the school
involved and the students eager to help raise money is to offer
a competition and prizes for the classes that raise the most
money for the fundraiser. This works especially well for
fundraisers where the students are expected to sell candy or
some other product. Each class is given an equal chance to win
a prize because every student has the chance to contribute to
the class’s performance.
In general, elementary school fundraising is
not very hard to plan or carry out. Just make sure you have the
support of the staff and the parents and your fundraiser will
be a huge success.
