Fundraising Activities
Fundraising is a popular and easy way for groups and
organizations to raise the money they need for activities and
programs they otherwise could not afford.
Charities and non
profits rely on fundraising dollars because it is the only way
they can operate, other organizations use fundraiser dollars to
supplement their income. In both cases, fundraisers are
important and the people who show support and participate in
fundraisers have found some merit in the organizations that are
holding them.
One of the biggest aspects of fundraisers is
the activities and events that are planned and held in order to
raise the money. Depending on the size of the
organization and the amount of money needed, fundraising
activities can run the gauntlet of size and production.
It is important though to consider who you are planning the
event for and what your target list of donors looks like.
Don’t go too overboard in the type of activity you plan so that
you totally miss catering to the people who are attending your
fundraiser.
The following are some very popular types of
fundraiser activities that appeal to a wide variety of donors
and are sure to help your organization meet their fundraising
needs.
Auctions and Raffles
Both an auction and a raffle are great ways to raise money
while giving the donor motivation to spend their money.
At any fundraiser activities, those who come are usually ready
and willing to open up their pockets and donate money to the
group throwing the event. But, an auction and a raffle
give the donors an incentive to donate, because at the end of
the night there is the possibility that they will be walking
away with something. For either of these events there is
a lot of planning and dealing with local vendors and businesses
that will need to take place, but it is entirely possible to
arrange the event with a good team of
volunteers.
Bingo Nights
Bingo nights are a great activity that the entire family and
community can participate in. With an activity like bingo
you offer a night of fun and games that raising the money
needed won’t even feel like work. Purchase bingo cards
and rent the rest of the items needed to host the night.
Speak to local halls or schools to see if you can get the space
donated.
Dance and Walk a Thons
A quick way to raise lots of money from a wide range of donors
is through a dance or walk-a-thon. All the members of
your group can participate by asking friends and family to
sponsor them as they dance or walk.
These are just a few different fundraising activities.
There are several more available that are easy to
plan.
