Fundraising Book Fair

Book fair events make a great opportunity to fundraise for a charity or school.

There is more than one way to hold a fundraising book fair, but both require an equal amount of time and dedication to be a success.  If you are planning a fundraiser for your group in the near future and were thinking about doing a book fair, here are a few things you need to consider.

Book fairs can be held with the help of a publisher or a book store that is willing to give you a percentage of the profits on a certain day.  With the first type of fundraiser you would work with a publisher or book vendor to set up a day where a specific collection of books is brought in and sold to members.  A designated percentage of the profits sold during the book fair would be your earnings.  Events such as this work best with lots of publicity and with all your members spreading the word. 

In the second case, you can have a fundraiser night at local book store.  Many times businesses are willing to sponsor a night of fundraising, and a book store is a great business to partner up with. Let the members of your groups spread the news and make sure the night is well publicized. Decide with the book stroe manager if a portion of all proceeds will go to your group, or if there is a certain set of books that when purchased go to your group.  Choosing a small type of books works for something like a fundraiser for a children’s charity or school.      
 
Approach surrounding businesses about publicizing the event using their storefronts and other means.  Send out a press release to your local paper so that you can get as many members of the community to participate as well.  Tap your group for volunteers to come out and help with the book fair, offer gift wrapping for those who need it.  As many add on services as you can provide will help get as many people as possible to the event and earn you even more money.  Things like a bake sale, storyteller, and refreshment stand can bring more donors and more money.  Plan everything out for your fundraiser and it will be a huge success.
