Fundraising Letter Sample

Fundraising campaigns are very serious matters, involving lots of planning, organization and commitment.

Depending on the type of fundraiser you will be holding, you may need to treat your donations as business transactions. You need to find a balance between keeping your fundraiser personal so that people are swayed into donating, but also being professional about your fundraising so that donors are comfortable with giving you their hard earned money.

When you begin fundraising, it is often a good idea to reach out to your donors through a formal campaign fundraising letter. This gets your information out to the people that you want to reach and eventually meet with in order to gain donations. The following is a sample fundraising letter that you can use as a template for letters of your own.

Dear Sir/ Madame:
Hello,
Blessings International is a charitable not for profit organization that aims to assist families in need. In order to continue providing for our organization and the needs of those we help, monetary donations are sought out through our various fundraisers annually. Every donation that is made brings us that much closer to meeting the needs of everyone that comes to us for help, therefore, our fundraisers and those who donate are a vital lifeline.

In order to meet our goals, we are asking generous individuals and organizations to help us through monetary donations and support. The donations you make are more than just money, they provide families with the hope and independence they need to provide for themselves again, and our charity the ability to help more people in need. Thank you very much for taking the time to consider our organization and have a great day.

This sample letter is a great example of the type of letter you can use to begin creating a potential donor list for your capital campaign fundraiser. The letter you create needs to come off as professional, but also compelling enough to get the donor interested in your organization and its mission. Make sure to add personal touches and details when you write up your own letter, most times a well written letter is enough to bring in donations before any fundraising efforts have officially begun.
